How to Stop State Farm Junk Mail

State Farm accepts marketing opt-outs through its Do Not Solicit form, an agent, or postal mail. Its separate Do Not Share choice does not stop marketing.

State Farm's official direct-marketing FAQ says consumers can opt out of direct-mail, telephone, or email offers. Its Do Not Solicit form handles postal marketing through the mailing-address fields. Billing, policy, claims, and renewal documents follow separate account preferences and legal requirements.

Use the State Farm Do Not Solicit form

  1. Keep one recent offer. Copy the last name and complete mailing address, including any unit number.
  2. Complete every postal field. Enter the last name, address, city, state, and ZIP code. The fields are individually labeled optional, but State Farm requires this set for a postal-marketing opt-out.
  3. Keep other channels separate. An email address requests an email opt-out; a phone number requests a telephone opt-out. Those fields are not needed just to stop postal marketing.
  4. Save the request date. Keep it with the mailing label for comparison if another offer arrives.

The form asks you to allow four weeks for processing. That is a request-processing window, not a promise that the last advertisement will arrive within four weeks.

Do Not Share is not a mail opt-out

State Farm explicitly says its Do Not Share election limits certain information sharing but is not a marketing opt-out. Use the Do Not Solicit form when the goal is to stop postal offers.

These choices solve different privacy questions. Do Not Share concerns certain information obtained outside State Farm and shared within its family of companies. Do Not Solicit concerns marketing contact. Selecting one does not imply the other.

Other official ways to submit the request

State Farm also says you can contact your State Farm agent or write to:

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company
Mail Response Center
One State Farm Plaza
Bloomington, IL 61710

Include the recipient name and complete address shown on the unwanted offer. Keep a copy of a written request. For a request limited to a particular product line or company, explain that scope to your agent or in your letter. The FAQ says State Farm can honor requests across its family of companies or for specific product lines or companies.

Use paperless settings for bills and policy documents

If the unwanted paper is connected to an active State Farm account, do not treat it as a solicitation. State Farm's paperless guide covers bills, auto ID cards, policy renewals, claim updates, and other account communications. Its billing instructions direct customers to Profile & Preferences, then Communication preferences, to change insurance bill statements from Paper to Email.

State Farm notes that some documents may still arrive on paper when state rules require them. A marketing opt-out should not be used to block notices tied to coverage, payment, a claim, or a legal deadline.

If the offer came from a prescreened list

A State Farm request covers State Farm solicitations. A prescreened insurance offer may also involve a credit-bureau list. The Federal Trade Commission explains that prescreened offers can be based on information in a credit report. Use our prescreened insurance offer guide for the official broader opt-out.

The two requests address different sources. Submit the State Farm request for the company's marketing record and use the prescreen route when the offer says it was made from credit-report criteria.

Match every name and address variation

State Farm stores opt-out preferences permanently, but its form asks for a separate request for each distinct last name and address. After a move or name change, make a new request with the updated details.

For mail addressed to someone who moved, do not submit their information as if it were yours. Follow the previous-resident mail process and state that the delivery record is outdated. For a current household member, each materially different name or address record may need its own request.

Where Junk Mail Magic fits

Use State Farm's direct route when the sender is clear. For an unfamiliar insurance advertisement, photograph one piece so Junk Mail Magic can identify the company and prepare the sender-specific request.

Keep the complete promotional mailing label readable. Do not photograph policy numbers, payment details, claim documents, insurance cards, Social Security numbers, or other private account material.
